Background
Tumblar Products Limited is a New Zealand contract-manufacturing plant located in Hornby, Christchurch. They formulate, produce, package, and distribute liquid and dry products for various customers in hygiene, pest, and agricultural products sectors.
Goal
This project will focus on optimising Tumblar's current website design, which was last updated in 2020. The key goals are to use the base of the website and upgrade it to a functional website that is easy to use and read, showcasing the company's capabilities, the current senior leadership team, and relevant to new customers' understanding of what Tumblar Products does. my role was to redesign the company website interface on a WordPress backend as directed to a functional website to reflect manufacturing options available to customers.
Challenge
This project needed to use the existing design system and secondly research to redesign the old site interface to match the company theme and branding, by adding a few additional sites, and features to showcase the company's capabilities, as well as to optimise sites for usability search engine optimization and create responsive, functional, clean user interfaces on all devices.
Having limited UX/UI design experience and being the only designer in the company as an Intern at the start of this project was challenging for me. This also requires me to get familiar with the design system and pick new tools quickly, pitch design strategies and present ideas to the senior leadership team in a simple, clear way to make sure they understand and engage from start to end of the project.
New Home Page
A new clean, and user-friendly new landing site to provide better navigation for the site user. This Includes Tumblar's vision, mission, and a new call to action post slider bar guide to other pages. A responsive design emerged as a way to provide equivalent access to information and user experience on all devices.

Why Tumblar
The new business focuses the on its core manufacturing capabilities and looks for new opportunities in agri chemicals to increase its competitive edge. This is due to New Zealand's large demand for agricultural products. Currently, the business's key focus is on household products, insecticides, pesticides, and other speciality products.
The new Why Tumblar Page is to showcase the manufacturing options available to customers and the three main sectors of business services, FMCG, Pest Solutions and Agri & Graden care. I have also edited three videos in Final Cut Pro X to showcase each of these sectors. The new Why Tumblar new a clean interface to provide a better experience to the site user.

Outcomes
I enjoyed learning the new CMS and other design tools, which allowed me to use the design thinking skills and knowledge I learned from my degree to apply to this project, I was able to get familiar with existing design systems and apply the design thinking strategy recommended innovative ways to display our content and connect with site users and refreshing and streamlining our website to tell the Tumblar story to the world; who we are, what we do and what we stand for.
What is Next?
This was my first UX/UI design hands-on experience, and I had no working knowledge of the UX design process. Going through the design process again in this project, I realised I have spent most of the time focused on designing beautiful UI elements and less on conducting user and market research.
Due to the time and scale of the project, I was not able to conduct full user research to gather and analyse more relevant information about the market, competitors, user and their needs, pains, and context. Although there's limited information and findings I can use from secondary research, I had only spent small amounts of time applying the A/B testing method using Google Analytics to test call-to-action features clicks rate and web page traffic metrics on the site.
Looking back at this project, I feel so proud of myself able to be self-taught some of the design tools along the way and I'm happily surprised at the amount of progress I was able to make in three months part-time as an Intern role. Throughout this Intern experience, I have learned that it's important to conduct innovative and more in-depth user research in the design process. Undertaking more user research can give you more data and evidence-based insights rather than relying on assumptions and circling in the design process.
